Anthology (Instrumental – for Wednesday)

Using the essay planner and the notes in the resources folder on Moodle write an essay on the following title:

“Identify features of the Haydn that are typical of the Classical era”

Your essay should be structured as follows:

  • Introduction
  • NINE clear points in separate short paragraphs
  • Conclusion, incorporating the final point to make TEN in total

NOTE: You need to give at least three clear examples, but the more the better

Anthology (Vocal – for Friday)

  1. Make sure you have read sources 1 and 2 in the Dekker resources folder on Moodle and made brief notes on Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae (no more than a single side of A4)
  2. Learn how to play up to bar 18 of the Dekker (we are playing it in D – chords and parts for bass and Bb instruments are all on a sheet in the resources folder on Moodle)

Composition
1. Devise a scenario that might inspire you to write a Darkness to Light composition (i.e. sunrise or a psychological breakthrough or a film scene in which the forces of light triumph over the forces of darkness)

2. Look on the composition resources Moodle and find at least two specific passages of music that you can take ideas from to represent darkness and two that might represent light. You need to be specific in your descriptions of the music and what aspects of it you are going to take. You can further pieces taken from Moodle elsewhere if you wish. Please use the Pro Forma on Moodle (AS Music – ‘Sleeve notes and planner submissions’ – ‘Influences Initial Tracker’) and submit it on Moodle in the ‘Influences and Planner Submissions’ folder on Music AS moodle BEFORE next lesson.
