Homework in Mocks Week

You need to continue with your composition work (AS: Variation 2 this week, variation 3 for next) but there will be no other homework other than mocks.

Keep going with your development sections if you are doing Sonatina. Remember you need to save the last week of this half term for doing your recapitulation.

Instrumental

1. Copy up the notes from the lesson into your score and GSMIRTH. THE NOTES HAVE BEEN SENT TO YOU IN AN EMAIL

2. Read the articles on Texture/Instrumentation in your pack and add detail to your score/GSMIRTH

3. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvVjtpIb7Uc and make notes on how this is typical of an authentic performance

Composition

For the next two weeks I am interested primarily in development sections. In your comments with your submission, please submit your feedback sheet with relevant annotations and in the online text please identify one section that you want help to improve. Tell me what you are trying to achieve and what is wrong with it at the moment.

Instrumental

Write an article about Bach’s use of melody and rhythm in the Brandenburg set work. You can either use bullet points or full prose, but each point must be backed up with clear musical examples

Complete a bassline ONLY for Edexcel Paper 2005. Please include Roman numerals.

This week I will be looking primarily at Variation 1 (or equivalent), which you should ensure is completed. You should also identify one other passage in your piece that you have worked on and for which you need some input or help.

Instrumental 

Create mnemonics to help you remember the comparison questions for: Structure, Melody, Texture, Harmony. Pick key words and then create your mnemonics. We will share in the lesson.

Harmony

Finish Cadence Worksheet 8. There is a workshop in D2 on Monday at 1.15 if you are struggling.

Vocal
1. Use your Post It notes from the lesson to improve your Anthology and GSMIRTH notes on the Desmond Dekker
2. Answer the Post It question which you created at the end of the lesson
3. Complete your chosen tasks on the Stretch and Challenge menu

1. Answer all of the questions on the worksheet given out in class. DON’T ADD THESE FEATURES TO YOUR ANTHOLOGY YET – wait until we have marked and corrected your answers
2. Listen to the Brandenburg Concerto, noting the structure and modulations in your score

Finish the exercises for Fingerprints 5 and 6 in the Fingerprint Handbook
