A2 (A) Homework set w/c 9th February
Instrumental
1. Mock exam follow up: use the ‘indicative content’ sheet to check what you included and what you missed out on the recent mock paper
2. Complete the worksheet issued in class: harmony and tonality in the Tippett. Use your answers to,write a mini essay entitled ‘compare and contrast the use of harmony and tonality in the Beethoven and Tippett set works’.
This work should be handed in on the first lesson back after half term (Tuesday)

Please use the notes on Moodle, the score and Google to complete the Glossary given out in class. You should also annotate your score showing, for example, a gongan and a seleh.

A2 (D) Homework set w/c 2nd February
Instrumental
1. Answer the melody and rhythm questions (Tippett) on the workshop. Please hand in next lesson.
2. Go to Moodle A2 Instrumental area and find the folder marked ‘w/c 2 February Tippett’. You will find some of the texture work from two weeks ago. Please add these texture features to your anthology.

1. Make a table of features of the Stravinsky. You should have one column for each movement and then three rows:
- Comical or grotesque transformations
- Subtle additions (Stravinsky’s accent)
- Instrumentation
2. Write one paragraph introducing answering in general terms the following questions:
- What was Stravinsky’s approach to arranging these eighteenth century works?
- How is Stravinsky’s music suited to the grotesquely caricatured characters of the Commedia del’arte ballet for which it was written?
- To what extent is Pulcinella a Neo-Classical piece?

3) Using this and the information at the beginning of the Bach in your anthology (plus your other annotations) complete the essay planner for the following essay:
Identify features of the Bach that are typical of the Baroque style (provide an example for every point where possible)

This week is Unit 3 and Unit 6 Mocks so there is no homework set (there is harmony and chorales from last week however). Timetable for the week is here. You are not obliged to hand in compositions this week but you are welcome to email them for feedback.
Year 12
Learn the Standard Comparison Questions on pp. 17-18 of your Course Handbook for Harmony, Melody, Structure and Texture.Listen to the works with annotated scores and make sure you have revised the context questions for Poulenc and Mozart.
Any work studies so far except for the Bach could come up in Skeleton Scores
Make sure you know your IC/IB-V-I and ii7b-V-I fingerprints for question 4 and that you know closely related keys and embellishments for question 4.
Year 13
Anything except Stravinsky might come up. You need to be able to find key features in the score quickly and efficiently.
