Update your anthology (I will check in the first week back) and revise for your mocks in January, which will include any pieces that we have studied (Bach, Mozart, Dowland, Dekker and Bruckner)

Composition
Tom’s Group: find six more influences from Moodle to use in your piece. They might include Texture and Instrumentation (e.g. percussion), anything from Melody and Harmony (chords, ‘Interesting rhythm’ etc.). Document these in a simple table, indicating where in your piece you are hoping to include it.

Your tracker must include the following:
Story for each section
- Keys and modulations for each section
- At least two influences for each section (whether or not actually used or not)
- At least 10 influences in total
- Please add at the bottom the targets from 7th December (copy and paste from Moodle) and what you have done to address them
Your composition should:
- Be around 2 minutes in length
- Have plenty of dynamics and articulation
- Have some motivic links within/between sections
- Have post-it notes on the Sibelius file that document the details of influences and what sections represent.

2. Write an essay on the following topic: Identify features of the Bach that are typical of the Baroque style. Note that you need to make TEN clear points in order to get full marks.

Continue work on your ‘light’ sketch. Make sure you think about motifs, as we discussed in class. Remember that by Christmas you must have two sketches lasting a total of two minutes as a minimum.

Next week we will have a timed essays on the Bach and the Williams. As part of your preparations, please complete essay planners on the following questions:
- How is the Bach typical of Lutheran Church music of the late Baroque.
- Discuss how Bach conveys the meaning of his text.
Instrumental
Haydn: make a bullet point list or mind map of texture and instrumentation.
All points must include examples with bar numbers. Make sure you highlight the contrast in texture between sections and aim to give at least 10 distinct features
