Ravel – Rapsodie espagnole

In this very short excerpt, Ravel orchestrates a descent down through the orchestra – a very dramatic effect when used well. Here he is basing the material primarily on the whole-tone scale but notice how both in wind and strings the material passes from upper to lower instruments.
