AS (G) Homework w/c 24th November

Instrumental (for Tuesday)

Find the textures on the Textures finder given out in class. I will take these in.

Remember the workshop for this class is on THURSDAY at 1.15

Vocal (for Monday)

1. Revise for Skeleton Score tests next week

2. Get to know your intervals – these resources may help

Harmony (for Friday)

Finish page 23 in the harmony workbook. Make sure you have used Ib V I and Ic V I on BOTH melodic patterns.

Composition (end of Wednesday)

1. Update your composition, following the suggestions on Moodle
2. Start a new section of your piece. Try to link the new section motivically to your first section

Submit your new sketch on Moodle by Wednesday 4pm at the latest.

You need to make corrections and complete another sketch. You MUST fill in the Tracker of Influences Used and submit that separately on Moodle. It really is all about influences at the moment.

Schumann ‘Kinderscenen’: continue the work started in class – for movements 3 and 11 describe the texture and instrumentation features, trying to add to the ‘texture is mdh’ starting point.
Write down your answers on a sheet of paper, not just in your anthology ready for next week’s starter.

  • Read Source 03 in the Moodle on Gabrieli (here). Note down some key features of Venetian music in the 16th and 17th centuries
  • Google and Youtube Sackbutts and Cornetts

Chorale

You have targets on the Moodle submission area (w/c 17 November).
Please revise, improve and add to your initial sketch. Submit it on Moodle by Wednesday 4pm at the latest.

Finish p. 22 of the Harmony Workbook

Composition (end of Wednesday)

  • Make any corrections/amendments according to feedback (put Notes on the score where you have yet to address problems identified)
  • Create a new sketch, based clearly on influences that are marked on the score using the Review/Notes function
  • Create/Update your Tracker of Influences Used (different from the Initial Influences form) and submit on Moodle in the Planners folder
  • Submit your annotated Sibelius file on Moodle

A2 (D) Homework set w/c 17th November

Use the ‘texture and instrumentation’ worksheet from class to create a mini essay (Louis Armstrong)

Chorale

Finish the exercises for Fingerprint 7 and Fingerprint 9
