Transfer your corrected and improved Example 8a and 8b to the quartet template (last page)

Choose one of the textures in the Starting Points handbook (the most straightforward is on page 10) and adapt it as an accompaniment for your tune.

1) Make sure that you have full chords as much as possible

2) Make sure that the inidividual parts have some melodic flow (avoid large leaps)

Complete Exercise 8a and 8b. Keep it nice and simple but remember to include at least one distinctive rhythm and specify dynamics and articulation.

All year 12 music students need to pay for an anthology by Friday 13th. A letter for your parents was given out during induction before the summer (copy of letter) – the cost is £27, which needs to be taken down to registry. You will get a receipt.

Composition (due in Friday 13th on Moodle)

Complete a planning sheet for the relevant brief and 12 bars of music on Sibelius, both to be submitted via Moodle (templates and instructions on Moodle).

Chorale (due in Wednesday 18th)

Finish Worksheet 01 remembering carefully to follow the method outlined on ChoraleGUIDE.

Applied (due in Thursday 19th)

Read and make brief notes on the synopsis of Tristan and Isolde on p. 63 of the source book.

Instrumental (due in Monday 16th)

Complete Exercise 6 in the Starting Points booklet. I shall take it in during Iain’s lesson on Tuesday.
